The Fisher Queen’s Dynasty by Kavita Kané

Kané's dramatised Wikipedia article masquerading as a novel isn't just bad. It's a whooping trainwreck. Were the editors sleeping on the job? Did the author forget to think all her plot points through to the very end? Ultimately, the characters in this story have no independent voice, no consistency in their personalities, and no agency. They simply exist to take on blame and shift it to others. Whatever Wikipedia says they did, they do..

The Lunar Chronicles #3 – Cress

Much like its predecessors, Cress is a decent, light read that maps out the third act of an enjoyably low stakes fantasy adventure. It would have struggled to sustain interest back when the fourth book was yet to be released, but now that we can binge the entire series in one go, it's pleasant and low stakes enough to keep the reader hooked to the end. I've had to deduct half a star for the deplorable lack of queer relationships (or characters) though.
